HOMESTAY IN JAPAN: TEAMBUILDING CLOSING CEREMONY

speech by Matsumura-san;

Ladies and gentlemen. Good Afternoon.
Selamat Tengah hari kepada Tuan –tuan dan Puan-puan..

My name is Matsumura and I am a program officer in JICA Malaysia office. Thank you very much for inviting me on this closing ceremony, and I am very happy to get a chance to speak to you in Bahasa Malaysia.

Let me make a speech in English.
Here, I would like to say congratulations on that you have chance to visit to Japan. I’ m so sure that your visit to Japan will very informative and also broaden your mind.
As you have already known, this year 2007 is 50th anniversary not only for Malaysia, but also for our friendship between Malaysia and Japan as we started diplomat relations 50 years ago. Since then, our friendship has grown stronger and stronger, due to your senior’s effort, like the guests here, and your father and mother. So you must be very lucky that you can visit Japan on this year.

Thanks to the member of myJICA , you have learnt about Japanese language and culture through this team building session, and it is very helpful for you.
But as the proverb goes, “seeing is believing”. I hope you can learn and feel Japan by using your own hands, eyes and ears, especially through the dialogue with the Japanese youth. And at the end of this visit, I hope you can express what you have discovered as your own experience through your visit to Japan.

Finally, this is my message to you. There are so many differences in the world. You might come across those differences on your visit to Japan. But please do not focus on only differences but also the similarity or same thing between our countries.

Let me speak in Bahasa Malaysia again.
I hope this visit to Japan will bring you the wonderful memories and will be good influence of your bright future.
Harapan saya, lawatan anda ke Jepun akan dapat memberikan anda memori-memori yang indah dan juga mendapat pengaruh-pengaruh yang baik-baik untuk masa depan anda.

Thank you for listening.

Sekian, terima kasih.
